Amanda travels to seven camps in Nepal which house more than 100,000 people - the largest concentration of refugees in the world. Expelled from Bhutan almost twenty years ago, the government of Nepal refuses to grant them citizenship. She reports on the difficult decision they face – trading the dream of one day returning to their old homes in Bhutan for a chance to start a new life as free citizens in a third country but – in many cases – separated from family and friends. And she gains unprecedented access to Bhutan. She travels there alone, taking a camera with her. Amanda produced and directed the film.
Selected for screening in competitive section of Film South Asia 09 (to be held in Kathmandu in September).
